Juniper essential oilit is obtained from the Juniperus communis plant, belonging to the Cupressaceae family. Juniper is a bright, prosperous and vigorous plant, which since ancient times has been used for therapeutic, medicinal and propitiatory purposes by many civilizations.Its fruits are dark colored berries, called 'galbuli', scaly, pruinose and rich in essential oil.

Juniper oil can be used as a massage oil, topical use, can be inhaled via aromatherapy, can be used as a homeopathic product, can be ingested as an infusion.

Purifying action.One of the main properties of this plant is to be apowerful detoxifier. Its oil, extracted by steam distillation - from leaves, berries and wood - is excellent for promoting drainage and elimination of cellular catabolites (toxins). Its activity is carried out favorably at the level oflymphatic circulation, promoting the elimination of waste through diuresis. A study carried out at the Department of Plant Biology and Agri-food and Livestock Biotechnology of the University of Perugia confirms it: the essential oil would actually act by stimulating renal activity, promoting urine filtration and the elimination of minerals between which sodium and potassium. Therefore it would act positively by soothing the symptoms ofcystitis, of theprostatitisand kidney stones; and it was also effective in the case ofgout.

Astringent action on acne and oily skin.2 drops of Juniper oil, together with a base cream, are sufficient for asebum-regulating action. They can be applied with a draining massage on the skin of the face, or vaporized together with 2 drops of Lavender essential oil in order to eliminate excess sebum.

Expectorant and balsamic action.Juniper is also excellent in case of diseases typical of the winter period, such asinfluence,coughAndbronchitis. It can be consumed in infusion, in herbal teas or decoctions, or spread in the environment.

Circulation stimulation action.Juniper essential oil stimulates lymphatic circulation and activates blood circulation, this makes it an excellent remedy in case you want to intervene on imperfections such as PEFS (the so-calledcellulite),edema, venous problems, overweight, and in all cases of intoxication due to the consumption of drugs or an unbalanced lifestyle.

Juniper essential oil as an expectorant 

In case of diseases of the respiratory system, such as coughs and colds, it is used as balsamic oil: it can be used in winter at home to combat respiratory diseases, as an anti-catarrhal and expectorant and to disinfect the air at home.

Juniper essential oilagainst herpes simplex 

To reduce herpes simplex it must be applied directly on the affected areas: it is recommended to use high quality 100% pure oil   for a short period of time.

Juniper essential oilagainst cystitis 

Prepare a nice tub of water to cover the whole basin and add 8 drops of juniper oil: you have to stay in the water for at least 15 minutes and repeat every day until the disturbance passes.

Warnings     Do not use Juniper essential oil during pregnancy as it has a stimulating action on smooth muscle contraction, with consequent contraction uterine walls; instead, it is recommended to use it in the postpartum period to favor the closure of the cervix.

It is generally well tolerated as it is non-toxic, but can be slightly irritating. Its intake, if prolonged over time, does not cause pathologies and does not induce reactions of any kind. Keep out of reach of children.
