The essential oil of lemon balm is obtained from Melissa officinalis, a plant of the Labiate family, it is a perennial herbaceous plant with wrinkled leaves similar to those of mint with a pleasant lemon scent. The flowers are white or pink with a bilabiate tubular calyx. Melissa officinalis, also known as true lemon balm, owes its name to the sweet, fresh and citrus scent of its flowers, renowned for attracting bees (in Greek, the term “lemon balm” refers to honey bees). Given its positive effect on mood, lemon balm oil has long been used to relieve feelings of tension and nervousness when applied topically.

Properties and benefits

Infusion of lemon balm if anxiety grips the stomach

If the tension mainly affects the stomach, intestines and causes you annoying migraines, choose the infusion of this plant with small colored flowers. Pour 2 drops of essential oil into a cup of hot water (about 200 ml)

HOW TO USE

 

Aromatic:Add 3-4 drops in a diffuser.

Topical: For massage, mix 5 drops with 10ml of dōTERRA fractionated coconut oil  to generate a feeling of calm and emotional well-being.

Internal:Dilute one drop in 100 ml of liquid.

For the bath,   pour 5 drops into warm water in addition to some epsom salt.
